Program-Specific Instructions
Overview
The MS in Climate Science prepares students to understand, analyze, and respond to modern climate challenges through advanced scientific and quantitative training.
A strong foundation in climate science is essential for interpreting climate variability and assessing its impacts. In this program, students learn to analyze and model complex climate data to inform decision-making and develop effective responses to climate-related issues.
Coursework emphasizes quantitative problem-solving in areas such as atmospheric processes, fluid dynamics, and the interactions between the ocean, land surface, and atmosphere.
Who Should Apply
The program welcomes applicants from diverse backgrounds in physical sciences, mathematics, and engineering:
- Students with degrees in atmospheric science or meteorology can deepen their expertise, strengthen computational skills, and gain a broader understanding of climate systems
- Students with backgrounds in physics, mathematics, or related fields can apply their analytical and computational skills to real-world climate challenges
Faculty and Research
Students are taught by faculty from the Atmospheric, Oceanic, and Earth Sciences Department and the Center for Ocean-Land-Atmosphere Studies, including researchers engaged in leading work in climate dynamics, modeling, predictability, and statistical analysis of climate data.
